Paver Installation Paver Installation

Measure the area in square feet (Length x Width). Add 10% for cuts and extra material. Measure linear feet around the perimeter of paver area. Sketch a plan that shows all important dimensions. Visit an authorized Rinox dealer – they will be able to assist in the ordering of the proper quantity of the materials and offer installation tips. Download paver installation guide

Materials

Tools

  • 3/4” Modified (Crushed Stone)
  • Bedding Sand
    (also known as Concrete Sand)
  • Joint Sand
  • RINOX Pavers
  • Edge Restraint
  • Separation Fabric
  • Mason's Chisel
  • Mason's Hammer
  • String Line
  • Stiff Bristle Broom
  • Small Sledge Hammer
  • Stone Rake
  • 4 Ft Level
  • Tape Measure
  • Flat Shovel
  • Line Level
  • Knee Pads and Safety Glasses
  • 5 to 7 Ft. 2x4 for Screeding
  • 1” Diameter Screed Poles (PVC)
  • Utility Knife (for opening pallets)
  • Vibratory Plate Compactor
  • Spray Marking Paint
  • Wet Saw with Diamond Blade
  • Wheel Barrow
  • Pointed Shovel

Layout paver area with string line and spray with marking paint; excavate marked area for the compacted modified base. Use a four inch modified base for walkways, and an eight inch modified base for driveway applications. Setup string line to the proper grade. Use line level to help determine the grade. A general rule of thumb is for a 1/4” drop for every foot. This will ensure proper grading and water runoff.
Compact the exposed sub-base. Install Separation Fabric. Install 3/4” modified in two inch layers. Compact each layer. The base preparation is critical to a quality install. Lay screed poles approximately four feet apart on the top of the compacted modified stone base.
Place concrete bedding sand over and between the two screed poles. Take the 5 foot 2x4, and screed the concrete bedding sand.
Remove the two screed poles. Fill in the voids left by the screed poles. Begin to install RINOX pavers. Set up a string line in order to maintain a straight line while installing RINOX pavers in pattern chosen
Install egde restraint along finishededge of paver area. The edge restraint must be installed on top of the compacted modified base, removeany sand around perimeter. Make the necessary cuts using a wet diamond blade saw.
Sweep joint sand over finished paver area. Cover paver area with 1/2” thick layer of joint sand or a plastic memberane and run compactor over paver area. Sweep joint sand over joints and remove excess sand.
