Retaining Wall Installation

Rio retaining wall is sold by the square foot. To calculate the quantity needed, determine the length and height of the wall in feet. Multiply the length by the height. Rio block is typically installed with at least one course below the grade. To determine this quantity, multiply the length of the wall by the height of the block. Add this quantity to that quantity above grade. The quantity of caps can be determined by the length of wall. Check with Rinox Coping Specifications.

RINOX RIO block and cap system 3/4” Modified Crushed Stone Retaining Wall Adhesive 3/4” Clean Crushed Stone 4” Drainage Pipe with Fittings if necessary	Pointed Shovel Wheel Barrow Level String Line Stakes Line Level Dead Blow Hammer	Chisel or Spliter 5 to 7 Ft. 2x4 for Screeding Vibratory Plate Compactor Tape Measure Stone Rack Masons Hammer

Excavate area – either by hand or with a machine – 24 inches wide. Make the excavated area deep enough to allow for a six inch compacted modified base and at least one course of wall block below the finished grade. Set up a string line and level it to the necessary height.		Install modified base in two inch layers. Compact each layer thoroughly. Measure from string line the height of the base that is needed. Compact modified stone base thoroughly.
Install first course of RIO block. Use the string line as a guide for straightness and level along back edge of the block.		Set block with the dead blow hammer to the string line.
Use level to ensure the block is level from all angles.		Once first course is complete, the rest of the RIO wall is ready to be installed. Install the provided clips in the groove. Repeat the step for each layer.
